Pricing
Most consultations and treatments are covered by major health insurers, subject to your policy.
All fees are clearly outlined with no hidden costs, so you know exactly what to expect.
All treatments are delivered by an experienced consultant ophthalmic surgeon using advanced techniques.
Our approach to consultations and patient decision-making
Free consultations are frequently offered at eye care institutions. Whilst they appear initially attractive they often come with strings attached.
Many clinics use free appointments as a means to get potential new patients through their door. Their hope is that after a free consultation you progress to surgery — a small free item if you sign up to a larger value procedure.
By only receiving income from patients proceeding with surgery the dynamic between patient and doctor changes. Such clinics often measure “conversion rates” and “advertising returns”.
Farnham Eye Care and Professor Dan Lindfield strongly believe that discounts and free appointments are detrimental to the healthcare dynamic and shared decision making process between patient and doctor. Hence we do not discount or incentivise.
We will always assess you as an individual and take into account your problems, needs and desires. We will always be open and honest about what we feel are the best options for you.
We want to be able to do this without external pressure upon us or upon you.
We will never recommend a procedure that we do not feel is in your best interests. If “doing nothing” is the best recommendation then we will always say so.
By charging for our appointments we feel we can always give you our best opinion without external pressures of needing to “sell” procedures.
If we don’t think surgery is for you then we’re not afraid to say it.
I hope you understand why we have taken this standpoint compared to many other clinics, but we’re very happy to discuss this further if you wish.
